The musicians of Les Lumières are united in the search for musical excellence. It arises from a mix of experiences of young and experienced musicians. This combination enables a transfer of knowledge towards junior staff, but also allows for new impulses from the musical newcomers. When a graduate has found a permanent position, the vacant spots will be refilled. A core group of professional musicians from German and French orchestras and universities will coach the students.

The ensemble Les Lumières is organised by a non-profit organisation, run by a board consisting of volunteers. It creates the financial and organisational framework, for high-profile concerts, CD recordings or tours. Musicians of different nationalities play together in the orchestra. The mix of cultures and characters is a living example of international understanding. This is also a result of the Franco-German friendship!
